Normal ranges are particular to a laboratory and within that, to a clinical test. Therefore, you need to set up an individual set of ranges for each test within each laboratory.
To create, edit or delete a normal range, you need the 'Maintain normal ranges' permission
Select Parameters > Normal Ranges and CTC. The Normal Ranges and CTC window is displayed.
Select the Laboratories tab.
Select the laboratory for which you wish to create a normal range and click Edit Ranges. The Laboratory Normal Ranges window is displayed showing the normal ranges for that laboratory.
Click Create. Fields that are filled with yellow are mandatory and need to have valid data entered before the screen can be saved.
You can also create a new range set on the basis of an existing one. To do this, select the set to duplicate and click Create Like. Then edit the fields to make a new set.
Select a test group.
Select the test for which you wish to create a normal range. The units associated with the selected test will be displayed.
Enter a range of values for each of the normal, feasible and absolute categories. Click the Percent boxes if you want the feasible and absolute values to be displayed as a percentage of the normal range. Help on how the ranges work...
Each range set can be linked to a specific gender. Results will only be validated if the subject matches the specified gender. Select the relevant radio button. If this field is left blank, the range set will be applied regardless of the subject's gender.
Each range set can be linked to a specific age range. Results will only be validated if the subject's age falls into the specified range. Enter the minimum and maximum ages required. If this field is left blank, the range set will be applied regardless of the subject's age.
Each range set can be linked to an effective time period or start/end date. Results will only be validated if they are entered during the specified period. Enter the required start and/or end dates. If both of these fields are left blank, the range set will be applied regardless of the date of entry.
Click Save to save the new laboratory, or Cancel to abort the creation.
Select Parameters > Normal Ranges and CTC. The Normal Ranges and CTC window is displayed.
Select the Laboratories tab.
Select the laboratory that you wish to edit and click Edit Ranges.
Select the range that you wish to edit.
Make your changes and click Save to save them, or Cancel to abort.
Select Parameters > Normal Ranges and CTC. The Normal Ranges and CTC window is displayed.
Select the Laboratories tab.
Select the laboratory whose normal range you wish to delete and click Edit Ranges.
Select the range that you wish to delete.
Click Delete.
